This rifle is another in my series of youth/little person custom rifles. It has been specifically designed for a small person and utilizes all the match quality components of my full sized customs.
The base for this custom rifle is a custom American Walnut stock specifically sized for the small shooter. It is not a "cut-down" full size stock with a large grip area and fat butt. This stock is 100% designed and built for the small person shooter or 7 - 11 year old youth. The over-all length of the stock is 24" (normal is 32" - 36"). The length of pull (LOP) is a mere 11" (normal is 13" - 14"). The grip area has been reduced by 30% to fit the small hand and short fingers of little people. The thickness of the butt area has been likewise reduced to accomodate the shorter neck/shoulder distance. This nice piece of Walnut has been hand finished in Tru-Oil.
The rifle weighs in at a mere 4 lbs. 10 oz. and the balance point is perfectly under the mag well area. The over-all length of the rifle is a short 34".
Now for the "guts": new 2011 Ruger receiver assembly; custom machined match 16" threaded/vented barrel from Tactical Inc. along with one of their custom muzzle brakes; Ruger hardened target bolt assembly that has been trued and head-spaced with match firing pin and extractor; custom extended skeleton steel bolt handle; Heier Super-Match trigger assembly ( 2 lb. 5 oz. pull) with Volquartsen internals, custom trigger and auto-bolt release; Leupold billet rings; Burris Rimfire compact 3-9X40 scope.
The barrel used on this rifle is designed for "volume fire" without overheating. This system allows for the weapon to "rock & roll" without worry about damaging the barrel. We all know how some shooters like to pull the trigger! The muzzle brake also looks cool as hell and adds a touch of that big-gun attitude.
The great thing about these small person match rifles is that if the shooter does grow the barreled action can be moved to a full sized stock when needed or butt extension pads added in the interim. This weapon has it all for the little shooter and if the shooter does grow - the rifle can grow with them without any changes to the barreled action being needed..
Also, for those that wish to have open sights or need them for competitions - a factory carbine barrel can be changed out with the match barrel. I generally stock those and they sell for $50.

Dealer five pack. New factory hammers and springs. These are the "new style" that do not require bushings. The hammer has the side bearing surfaces machined into the hammer.
These hammers are also much harder than the old black ones that were A2 steel. These will hold their edge much longer.
This is the cheapest way for you “do-it-yourself” trigger guys to get your parts. You can grind/hone/polish on these bad boys to your heart’s content! Seems that Ruger no longer offers these separately and trying to find them at Brownell’s or Midway is impossible. Best deal on the net.

This is the low profile Ruger factory scope base with BOTH 3/8" dovetail ring mount AND Weaver style lock-down mount.
This inexpensive upgrade to older receivers will allow you to lock down the scope for no more "walk".
Scope "walk" is very common with the 3/8" rimfire dovetail rings and is responsible for more inconsistent target hits than "bad ammo"!
I can't tell you how many times over the years I have found that the scope had been moving forward and back (walking) in the old 3/8" mount without the shooter noticing. This causes the point of impact to change from round to round. This is especially prevelant when steel rings are used on the aluminum base. The frustration of inconsistent points of impact alone demands a lock-down scope base.

It features a satin handle that is 1" long X 3/4" at the knob. It also features tastefull knurling for feel and look.
This one also has : stainless steel rod & match spring, brass centering bushing and hardened EDM new base design that keeps the firing pin in proper position for misfire free performance. The removable and replaceable spring design allows for those that shoot sub-sonics to install a weaker spring for maximum performance of their weapon.

This new design is 1/2" diameter x 3/4" long. It is smaller in diameter than the popular classic original logo handle and 1/4" shorter. It features a custom Ruger medallion and satin hex design with grooves.

Factory fresh handle & spring. This is an ideal way to renew the bolt timing for proper function and smoothness. Most factory bolt/recoil springs get weak at about 5,000 rounds. This is the cheapest way to get the cycling of the bolt back to new specs.
Ends the frustrating two handed release of the bolt once you have locked it open. Once installed, all you have to do to close the bolt is to pull back slightly on the handle and let go. Presto, you are in battery and ready to begin firing.

These are the new Ruger factory wide extended magazine releases used on the target rifles and the Charger pistols. They make for easy release and changing of magazines. No more two-handed "fumbling" and trying to find the right place to press to release your magazine.
They are made of glass filled nylon synthetic and extend 5/8" down and are 1/2" wide. They are angled for ergonomically correct use.

This is a "barrel over-lap" piece. The threads are recessed in 2" and it is designed to fit a .920 barrel.
The specs are: 1.25" dia. x 6.10" long. The threads are 1/2x28tpi.
Although designed for 10/22 heavy barrels it will fit any heavy barrel with 1/2x28 threads.

These buffers are exclusive here and meet all my requirements for a bolt buffer.
These buffers do not wear out prematurely like softer buffers do nor do they change the rebound "timing" of the rifle like some softer ones do. I have seen many ejection/extraction problems over the years directly caused by buffers that were too soft and allowed too fast of a rebound of the bolt. These Turcite X buffers provide the correct lock time while keeping the shock load from being transferred entirely to the receiver. In short - they really work.
Turcite X is a synthetic material that has the following properties: low friction, self lubricating, maintenance free, long wearing, chemical resistent and moisture proof. It is specifically designed for shock load applications and possesses extremely low expansion properties. It is used throughout the aircraft and automotive industries where metal to metal contact occurs and a bearing is not feasible.
I have used, tested and abused all the other buffers available for the 10/22. Some are good and some are junk. These guys are as good as it gets. I have custom rifles with these in them that have fired many thousands of rounds without a problem and without needing changed.
They are slightly oversized by .002 so that when installed in the receiver they do not "walk" or rotate in their holes. The problem of receiver holes being too large and the buffer pin falling out when servicing the rifle is over. Once installed the buffer is custom fit to your individual receiver. They simply insert in place of the factory steel stop pin.
They come with complete photo instructions for installation. They are extremely easy to install and will extend the service life of your bolt and receiver without hurting the rifle's performance.
